Frozen in China

Today was a day full of sightseeing.  After eating a big breakfast, which consisted of things like bacon, eggs, croissants, etc., at our hotel, we ventured off to Tiananmen Square.  It was cold and windy.  It was in the low thirty's but the wind chill made it feel like under ten degrees (according to weather.com).  After Tiananmen Square, we proceeded to the Forbidden City.  It was incredible to see and to learn about its history.  Both kids were frozen but poor Noah was so cold that he could not even talk.  Noah and Samantha caught the attention of a few Chinese girls.  The girls asked to have their picture taken with the kids.  Samantha loved the attention.  We spent approximately two and a half hours outside, frozen like popsicles.  We got back in the bus and went to lunch.

The lunch in China was surprisingly good, although Noah and Sam were not extremely impressed.  It was not much different than the Chinese food we typically eat except there was one dish which looked like beef but was rather squishy.  We passed on trying it.  During lunch, Sam and Noah met some new friends (the Millers).

After lunch, we went to a pearl store and the girls went shopping!!  We were the last ones to leave the store and Evan was concerned the bus would leave without us.  After the shopping expedition, we went to the Summer Palace.  It was beautiful but still freezing (and snowing).  Our tour then took us to a silk factory.  It was very interesting to learn how silk is made and processed.  We concluded the evening with dinner.  Noah fell asleep on the way there and stayed asleep through the entire meal.  Again, the food was not bad but the soy sauce was different.  Sam thought it was too sour.

Well, off to bed.  We have another full day of sightseeing tomorrow.  Goodnight and God Bless.
